Actually, it will be summer in just a few days, but I'm running a little late this year. I have been very busy with non-art projects, but I have been working in my sketchbook with some new ideas for upcoming cards and prints.
My dearest friend is an old-school comic book illustrator and he showed me how people in his field sketch with a non-photo blue pencil to start with. It is so freeing! I don't know why, but it has really helped me to do more sketching and love it!
I also love this toned paper sketchbook!
It's nearly the beginning of November, so that means time to start thinking about Christmas! I know, I know, too early! It is for me too, but not for handmade cards and gifts. This year's card features Southwest animals gathered together joyfully singing carols under a starry sky. They are available in my Esty shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/BethNeelyArt
Can you guess the title of my newest card? Yep, it's Ballerina Javelina! As she twirls across the hot desert sands yellow butterflies flutter around her head and get tossed around it her breeze.
I am happy to say that my work now represented in several new locations:
I found this great frame with doors which was perfect for the print of my illustration, I Really Wanted to See You that features a little pink pig standing in a doorway with his blown-out umbrella and a bouquet of wilted violets.
